Inadequate Scandinavian Coverage

Is there any reason why there are no 38m or 19m Scandinavian meshes in your products?
Aren't they part of Europe? Will there be a NextMap release?

Thanks

Hi Joaquin,

It all comes down to available source data and the quality thereof.  There isn't currently NEXTMap source data for Scandinavia, save for Denmark, which has been released.  There is ASTER data, but it requires enormous amounts of preprocessing because the original source data is very low quality, so must be patched and repair manually, which takes a lot of time.  Some governments make their geographic information freely-available, and some data is so expensive that it makes it impossible to produce any products from at an economical pricepoint.

I was able to arrive at a reasonable deal on the NEXTMap data, and it is very high quality so was able to turn western Europe around in less than a month because there was little preprocessing involved.

If you know of any free or low-cost high-quality Scandinavian source data, please let me know and I will be happy to produce the Scandinavian countries rather quickly.  Otherwise I am kinda stuck with working with ASTER data which requires a lot of time and manual preprocessing to put into some sort of releasable form.  Scandinavia is coming, but will take longer to turn around.

Thanks

There is 38m mesh available for Norway...
Search for "Norway Quality Mesh"

Note that without proper coastlines and lakes it will look pretty bad. UT Europe helps a bit, but its detail for Norway is poor.
Best option is to use "Norway Scenic" or "Norway Scenic X".
I remember there was detailed instructions, at UT website, on using Scenic with UT Europe in FS9. I have not been active in the FS communities for a long time and never used FSX, so can't help there.

All these can be found at flightsim.no

Google translate works pretty well translating the site to english.
