FSX terrain mesh file sizes arent matching up

i've just bought the US Terrain Mesh pack but for some reason when i click on the download link the text on the site give one file size but the actual download is short by about 20-30 mb on each installer i download. I have cleared the cache history and have tried downloading via internet explorer and firefox. i'm at a loss as to why this is happening. any help you can offer me would be greatly appreciated.

Once downloaded, do the files execute when double-clicked, or not?

Hi Justin, the files execute ok but close automatically is that as intended? And after installing the packs are the terrain libraries meant to update?

i know they may sound silly but im pretty new to the whole flight simming scene and wanted to make sure i'd done it properly..

Well, while the US FSX terrain mesh is compiled from the same source data, the downloadables are compiled at a slightly higher compression ration, which makes them smaller than the ones on the DVDs.

If you ordered DVDs and installed the downloadable versions while awaiting shipment, go ahead and uninstall the downloads, then reinstall the DVDs.  This will ensure you have the files with lower compression ratio installed, though most cannot tell the difference in the sim.
