Self Installer to Manual Installer?
« on: April 05, 2012, 12:12:11 PM »
Hi Folks,

I have several FSG FSX Mesh DVD's.  They are with the self-installer.  Is there any way I can extract the files so I can install them manually, outside of FSX in a directory of my choosing?  If not, could they be installed in a dummy FSX folder then copied to my desired folder?

Thanks for any info....

I'm not quite sure whether this is possible. However, I started to use the ZIP downloads as I was tired about those installers as well.

@Justin: I would be very happy with an installer giving a choice but even more with one that just installs without requiring to click several times (not only to confirm with the terms and conditions) and which would leave no entry in the list of installed software. It is easy to search for your files if you want to get rid of it. Thus a routine to deinstall the stuff is not required at all. It only needs to put the files to the right place - that's it. A "centralised" installer, capable of performing batch jobs for selected ZIP files would be nice (probably like the PMDG livery installer for the 737 NGX).

Regards,
Axel

Thanks for the info/reply Axel.  I do agree with you on the installation process.
