In-FSX Landclass Config
« on: October 29, 2009, 01:21:10 AM »
Hi there again,

Ok, so... I've installed (in this order) FSG USA Mesh, UTX, GEX, then FSG USA Landclass.

I was going to configure FSG landclass according to UTX's sandwich method, but as I'm searching through the FSX scenery library to config, I do not see the FSG landclass at all, just all the UT this-and-that entries.  I dunno if I'm missing something or what, but I'd like to compare FSG Landclass to the UTX landclass and try and decide which I like/want in game more.

Is it down to just uninstalling FSG landclass entirely?  How would I verify which landclass I'm looking at?  Thanks!

~Nate

Hi Nate,

I believe the UT sandwich instructions include finding the fsglc_usx.bgl file and moving it to it's own folder, then configuring the Scenery Library.  Reread the instructions.  You must have skipped over that part.  ;)

Hope this helps

I went so far to uninstall the landclass and re-install it after everything else, and I still don't see it in the list.  After looking through the instructions for landclass and FSGenesis and such, it just talks about using AddOn landclass using the sandwich method "as discussed above."  Nothing particular that I can see (though I have been blind to these things in the past).

FSX is in its default install location, and I am attempting to install FSG Landclass in its default location as well.  The fsglcx_us.bgl file is in place in the FSX/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder.  I simply don't see it in the Scenery Library.

Hi Nate,

It's not there.  As noted you have to manually move it to its own folder, and manually add that folder to your Scenery Library.

Ok, so... I created a new folder in my main FSX install location.  I have moved the file there and am now attempting to "Add Area" in the scenery library.  I browse to said folder and there is nothing there for me to select, despite being 100% sure the BGL file is in that folder.

Specifically, I manually created in the [FSX]/Scenery folder a new folder called FSG_LC with a scenery sub folder.  If I browse to that folder, I find nothing when looking via the scenery library.  I'm trying to study the other folders and such, but something's not right.

Thanks for the help.

Ok, I finally got it planted in the Scenery Library and will test it now, I'm sure itt'l work fine at this point.

I'm honestly not sure if the installer is setting things up properly initially given that I had to manually move the file?  May I suggest modifying the installer routine?

Thanks again for the help... sorry for being dumb.
