Install of FS Genesis hangs on Windows 64-bit

Hello,

I recentlky bought a coumputer that came with Windows 7 64-bit installed. I have FSGenesis for FS 2004. The installers seem to hang. I notice that the files are just .bgl files. Is it possible just to copy the bgl files to the scenery\world\scenery folder. Is that where they go? I have the DVDs for all regions of the globe.

Nope can't copy the files. It gets so far and says that one of the 76m_dem files can't be found (it's cut off so I can't see), and then quits. Has anyone else had this problem? Is must be Windows 7 as I never had an issue with XP.

Could be a firmware issue with your DVD drive.  Go to the mfg's site and look around for a firmware update.

There are no updates for this drive, just manuals.

Maybe Google for issues with Windows 7 and your drive.  Otherwise I have no clue.  The only similar issues I know about have been solved with a firmware update.

Seems to be an issue with just those discs. Everything else installs ok. My drive is supposed to read all DVD media types.

It's a Samsung SH-S223C. I called the company who put my system together. After readjusting the cables, I decided to get an RMA and sent it back. We'll see after a few days if this happens again.
