Installation problems
« on: April 04, 2010, 09:18:48 AM »
I ordered the FSX Media Bundle FSXBDL   Order # 42645. The DVD is on the way but I did start downloading Can W & Can E as well as North Atlantic, Russia, Alaska/Hawaii and the United States. North Atlantic, Russia Alaska and Hawaii worked fine and ended up where the were supposed to, in the FSX folder Scenery/World/Scenery. The rest did not and can not be found, at least by me. I am running;
MS Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i7
CPU930@280GHz
8.0GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series.
Help in installing the product would be appreciated.

HI Rolf,

They shouldn't end up in scenery\world\scenery, but in scenery\XXXX\scenery subfolders for FSX.  Check those folders for fsgdem* files.  Certain files for North Atlantic, Alaska should go to their own subfolders under Addon scenery.

Thank you for the fast response. I did find the following - MFSX/Scenery0302/scenery/FSGdem0302_us_015008.bgl - no reference to the other files i.e Can west and Can west I downloaded and thought I had installed. Do all files end up under FSGDemo302....? If that is the case the problem is solved. As an aside once I have the mesh installed correctly, do you have a texture product? Following that, I understand Landclass should be installed.

Hi Rolf,

Move the contents of the erroneous \scenery0302 folder to scenery\0302 and delete \scenery0302 folder.  For CanW there should be FSGdem files in

scenery\0100\scenery
scenery\0101\scenery
scenery\0200\scenery
scenery\0201\scenery

No texture product, but download and install the US National landclass.  No media for that, it's only a couple of Mb.

Again my thanks. I did as you suggested. Now to Landclass. I did install it but I am not sure how to transfer it to FSX. I started FSX, settings, Scenery library/ Add Area/clicked on Add on Scenery in FSX and clicked on Scenery. I thought that should do the trick. It did not add any airports but did put a tower and some buildings near the airport.  Is this correct way of doing it?

Hi,

The landclass doesn't add anything but rearranges the landuse textures, such as forest, fields, urban, etc.

I don't believe the instructions told you to add it to the Scenery Library.  Unless you're running UT US and want to use both landclasses with layering, there isn't any Scenery Library entry to be made.  If you are running UT US and want to use the "sandwich" method, follow the instructions located at www.simforums.com
