FSX install questions
« on: August 25, 2010, 11:04:02 AM »
Hi Justin

I have some questions on install order for FSX.

Here's the disks I have:
  • World Terrain Mesh v1.2
  • North America Terrain Mesh US (East & West - 2 disks) v1.1
  • North America Terrain Mesh Canada & Mexico (1 disk) v1.2
  • Mexico Terrain Mesh v2.0
  • North America Terrain Mesh (East, Plains, Rockies & West Coast - 4 disks)(appears to be US only) v2

In what order do I install these?
In what order should they be listed in the scenery library (in sim)?
Are there any additional FSX products I need and what would their install order be?
Anything else you might think I need to consider?

Thanks in advance for any/all help you can provide!  :)

Gene

Hi Gene,

You can turn •North America Terrain Mesh US (East & West - 2 disks) v1.1 into a coaster.  It's superceded by the v2 disks.  Install the Canada - Mexico v 1.2, then install the v2 Mexico.

Aside from that, install order doesn't matter.  There won't be any Scenery Library entries to make or layering issues if you accept the default install path, since those folders are already present.

You might consider the North Atlantic for FSX, and the Northern Russia and Siberia for FSX to complete your whole-world coverage.

hope this helps

Hi Justin

Thanks for the quick response!

I was hoping to be able to turn US East/West into coasters!!  :P And it will save some install time too.

I'll have a look at the other products you suggested.

Thanks again!

Gene
