Service / Revised V2 Release schedule . . .
« on: July 18, 2008, 09:00:21 AM »
Hello,

I have recieved numerous emails concerning the remaining V2 shipments.  I have addressed this in a previous newsletter, but forthe benefit of those who either don't recieve them, or don't read them :-), here's what we're looking at:

--V2 Mexico will be released on or about August 1.  It will ship automatically to those who have previously ordered the now defunct North America product, or the FSX Media Bundle.

--V2 Alaska-Hawaii will be released on or about August 22.  It will also ship automatically as above.

--V2 Canada will be released on or about September 30.  It will also ship automatically as above.

--V2 World will be released on or about November 15.  It will also ship automatically as above.

The reason for these dates, which are considerably later than first envisioned, is that the process is very tedious and time-consuming if done properly, hand-editing, and literally thousands of airports.  Unless I or someone else can figure out a more automated process, this V2 update process will take considerable time.  V2 US was more automated since the source data for both FSG and the default were derived from a common source.  V2 for Canada and Mexico were derived from different datasets, the slight differences of which precludes an automated process, according to my technical knowledge.

In the meantime, of course, you are welcome to download the V1 files if you have not already done so.  Simply log into your FSG Store account and click "My FSX Downloads"

Thanks for your patience and understanding and I'm sure the end result will be worth the wait.

Service / More V2 Files Now Available . . .
« on: February 08, 2008, 10:54:42 PM »
Hi All,

Area 0201 is now available for download.  This area is bounded by the US/Canada border on the north, 45N on the south, 120W on the west, and 90W on the east.

If you happen to be stopping by, might as well them now before the announcement goes out tomorrow morning.  You're likely to have much better download speeds now than after the announcement goes out.

Some of you may remember back during the summer when the old forums were hacked, and have been closed ever since as a precaution.

Today I was finally able to sanitize the code, close the vulnerability, and reopen as an archive.  There are about 18000 posts over there spanning nearly four years.  Lots of interesting stuff.

The forums are locked, of course, but are a good reference.  YOu can reach them by clicking the Archive (old site) link under the Support menu at left, or by goging here:

Thanks

Hi All,

I am currently in Bellevue, Washington attending the Microsoft Developers Conference 2007/AVSIM FanCon through the weekend.  I will be checking in periodically, of course, but being away will not be able to respond as quickly as usual to service and support inquiries, for which I apologize.  As well, for reasons I have not yet determined I am having trouble sending email, so if you have written, I have replied but your answers and solutions are currently stuck in my outbox.  I hope to have that problem resolved as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, I was forced by time constraints to put a few orders from Sunday on hold, so they have not yet been shipped and probably will not ship until next Monday when I return to the roost.  If you are a new customer unfamiliar with the FSG system, please be aware that you may download your products by logging into your FSG Store account and clicking either "My FS2004 Downloads" or "My FSX Downloads", whatever the case may be.

Thanks
