Service / Madagascar ZIP v1 for FSX - Download Not Found
« on: November 18, 2011, 11:55:10 AM »
Hi Justin,
I am unable to download the newly release Madagascar v1 (zip) for FSX.  The auto-install version seems to start downloading, but I prefer the manual zips.  I think it's just a broke link or something.  Just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Regards,
Al Jordan

Suggestions / Zip Downloads - Folders prefered...
« on: April 23, 2011, 05:55:37 PM »
Hi Justin,
FWIW, I prefer the older style of the zips, already having the proper folder heichary for easy extraction directly to the FSX folder.  It seems these days, the new FSX mesh zips (Egypt, Bulgaria, etc..) just reference the proper folder in the Readme.

No big deal, but I've become accustomed to the drag-n-extract here [FSX] method over the years.  Just thought I'd mention it - not sure why you changed the zip layout.

Regards to my old stompin' grounds in "The Commonwealth State"   :D

Al Jordan

Support / FSGATAPX_US_HI.zip - Duplicate AFCADs ?
« on: May 02, 2010, 07:51:02 AM »
Hi Justin,
In the current Hawaii Airports zip, there are four airport files each for HI29, Hi31, and PHKO.  Two are "ADE" files from the 2008 time frame and the other two are "ADEX" files created in 2010.

Were these "ADE" files supposed to be included?  I have a FSXsp2 installation.

Thanks for the clarification...

Al

Hi Al,

No, I don't believe so with FSX files.
Roger that, thanks again...

BTW, just to make sure everything is gone from the auto-installers, are there any files, DEM, AFCAD, ALT, CVX, or othewise, that don't have the 'FSG' title somewhere in the file name?

Good to know Justin & thanks for the timely reply.  Yea, I knew about the 'alt' files as well, but thanks for the reminder.  Have a good weekend my friend.   ;D

With kind regards,
Al

Thanks Justin,
After loooking through other various v2 zips, I now have a handle of the new path structure, which I like very much.  Especially, because I defrag my FSX drive by file-name, this will put the FSG files near the front of the drive (under "Addon Scenery/FSG...") which rarely changes, and will speed-up the full defrag by file-name jobs.

Anyway,
I have removed all my FSG auto-installer prodcuts and will now us the manual zips.  The question becomes, can I do this same type of new path structure with the FSG v1 files, and adding the various manually created FSG v1 folders to my scenery library?  In other words, can I create ../Addon Scnery/FSGUS/Scenery and put the respective US dem files in there, and register it in my scenery.cfg file?

Will doing this (manual relocation) to current v1 files have any bad affects on future v2 files I manually install later (other than maybe having to change folder names)?  I assume it still doesn't matter where dem files/folders go in the scenery library hiearchy.  I understand the FSG AFCAD files are different but I keep those in seperate folders anyway.

Thanks,
Al

Hey Justin,
I was re-installing FSG airports in my FSX path using the latest version of the FSGHawaii.zip file from the download page.  I had previously installed everything using the autoinstallers several years ago.

What confuses me about the FSGHawaii.zip package, there is a FSGdem0003.bgl in the Addon Scenery/FSGHawaii/Scenery path within the zip.  But I already had this file in FSX (from the autoinstaller) in FSX/Scenery/0003/Scenery.  At first glance, it appears the FSGHawaii.zip is missing the proper path for the FSGdem0003.bgl file.  Also, the readme.txt file included in the zip doesn't mention anything about extracting any files to 0003 scenery folder.

Regards,
Al

Service / Coupon at Checkout - Where?
« on: December 23, 2007, 10:47:13 AM »
Hi,
I'm attempting to upgrade my 3-year membership to the life-time membership with the generous Holiday coupon code e-mailed to me the other day.

Trouble is, I select the upgrade which indicates $50 and work my way through checkout right up to the "continue" button under the Paypal terms, without having the oportunity to put in the coupon code.  Obviously, the checkout price is still indicating full price.

Where do I put in the coupon code during checkout?

Thanks for your quick help and Merry Christmas to FSG!

v/r,
AL
