Install FS Genesis on a new machine
« on: February 27, 2010, 01:48:49 AM »
I have the disks I bought for FS9 many years ago and I am having trouble with installing them in my new machine using Win 7 and 64 bit architecture.

Problem is, they auto load from the DVD but I have no idea where the files go to in the FS9 program. I want to load them into my FS9 library but can't see where they went in FS9. I see a folder called FSG Docs in the FS9/scenery/world folder but there's no clear indication of where the actual files went.

I've got the 3 DVD's installed with Ultimate Terrain in my FS9 but the ground scenery is of poor quality and I'm trying to find out why.

My system:

Dell Studio XPS 9000 Intel /  i7-920 Processor/ Win.Home Premium OS / 9GB memory / 1TB HD / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Video Card

Hi

You'll find them in scenery/world/scenery and no Scenery lIbrary entry is required since scenery/world/scenery is already registered in the Scenery Library.

Thanks

I believe you Tim but I'd still like to know under which heading these files are in my Scenery Library. Is it the "Default Scenery entry or are they dispersed through other headings?

The reason I'm asking is that many people I know have a separate, clearly identified heading at the top of their scenery library that says FS Genesis. They've advised me to make a new folder for FS Genesis files and get them directly from the FS9/Scenery/world/scenery folder then try and enter this new folder named FS Genesis into the scenery library. With Win 7 (64bit) this doesn't work . . . after selecting the new folder from the Add on scenery folder it goes no further . . I click on the "white area" in the next window but nothing happens.

I certainly believe in FS Genesis as do many others but I would still like some visual assurance that it went where it's supposed to go with auto install and that it's working properly.

Thanks,

Jeff
